Short answers for getting Giraffe Shipping onto a real checkout. If yours isn’t here, write to [email protected] — the same address as the App Store listing.

Getting started

What does this app do?

Giraffe Shipping sets the shipping options and prices customers see at checkout — Standard, Express, free over $80, more for a heavy order, a different price for some countries.

You see what they will see before anyone is charged, and you can try a rate on your own checkout first.

How do I get started after I install?

Open the app. Standard and Express are already there, with example prices, held to test checkouts so no customer is charged yet. Change those prices, or add another option.

Then add this app to your shipping zones. The checklist in the app has a button for that. You can also do it in Settings → Shipping and delivery → a profile → Add rate, and pick Giraffe Shipping.

Do I need a specific Shopify plan?

This app uses Shopify's carrier-calculated shipping. Shopify includes that on Advanced and Plus, and as an add-on on some other plans. If your plan doesn't include it, you won't be able to add this app as a rate in Shipping and delivery.

You can still install, set prices, and try them on a test checkout.

Will this replace the shipping rates I already have in Shopify?

No. Adding this app does not turn your existing rates off. Customers will see both until you turn the old ones off in Settings → Shipping and delivery.

If an existing rate uses the same name as one of yours — both called Standard, for example — checkout shows only one of them, and it is usually not yours. The checklist in the app flags that.

Trying it

What's free, and what do I pay for?

Building options, changing prices, seeing the customer's view, and trying rates on your own checkout are free, with no time limit.

A subscription is what lets real customers see those rates. One plan, $24.99 a month, no extra charge per order.

How do I try a rate without charging customers?

Keep the rate on test checkouts. The app shows a shipping name to type at checkout. Your live rates keep serving customers.

Use the normal checkout, not Shop Pay, Apple Pay or Google Pay — those send the name from the wallet, so the test rate won't show. You can abandon the order once you see the price.

I saved a change but checkout still shows the old price. Why?

A checkout that's already open keeps the rates it was quoted for up to 15 minutes. Add or remove an item, or start a new checkout, to see the change.

What you can set

Can I offer free shipping over an amount, or different prices by country?

Yes. Free over an amount, extra for heavy orders, different prices by country, region or postcode, and rates that only apply to certain products, tags or dates.

Weight is in the unit your shop already uses — kilograms, pounds, and so on. You don't convert anything.

Can I hide paid shipping when an order is free?

Yes. When a free rate applies, you can hide the paid options for that cart. On every other cart they still show.

Does this print labels or get cheaper carrier rates?

No. It only decides which shipping options and prices appear at checkout. Buying and printing labels is still Shopify Shipping, or another app.

When something looks wrong

Why don't I see this app's rates at checkout?

Usually one of these: the app isn't added to that shipping zone yet; every rate is still on test checkouts; the option is set to Draft; or an existing Shopify rate has the same name.

The checklist on the home page is built for this. If a custom shipping profile covers some products, add the app there too — it only adds itself to your default profile.

Does it work with Shop Pay?

Live rates do — they're ordinary shipping options at checkout.

Test rates do not. Shop Pay, Apple Pay and Google Pay send the name from the wallet, so they never carry the test shipping name. Use the normal checkout to try a test rate.

Still stuck?

Email [email protected]. Include your shop domain and what checkout showed. If you can, attach a CSV from Rate diagnostics in the app.
